The basics...

love&life is first album I released after my first 6 months of recording.

It's 22 experimental hip hop tracks featuring my vocals on various tracks from producers of different genres. This album includes some of the first songs I had ever written and attempted to record, as well as freestyles and even messy unfinished tracks. It is considered to me as a personal time capsule of my evolution as a "Hip Hop vocalist" and the tools and quality I use to create them.

This album again a mix of written and freestyle improvised tracks - in a life constantly on the move, you sometimes see things a little differently - This collection captures those experiences as best as I could at the time.

More insight from my unconventional nomadic hip‑hop lifestyle.

I submitted this album for release while sitting at a train station just outside of Rome. Drunk, eating McDonalds chips waiting for a train. I had started this album a few months before and realised I had a few songs left over from the first album I could use, then I looked deeper and found more&more songs which didn't make the cut for the second album.

Through them all.

If my past three albums have taught me anything, it’s to keep being real to yourself and keep making what you love.

I was smoking so much weed during the entire production of this album; from writing, to recording, to compiling the record for release. It was challenging time in my life... but don't get me wrong, if I was to complain I would be a dickhead. I just some ups&downs to overcome and this album is a complete blur captured in time.

As you may know, I use free mobile apps to make my music.

The app 'Allihoopa' that I had been using for my first three albums had shut down, so I started playing around with 'BandLab'. The extra features and complexity of the app made me feel like I had taken a step back. Also, living between continents and somewhat without an actual "home base" as a space to record, most these tracks were made in parks and underground metros with a lot of background noise. But with a bit of push&pull , I pushed through and pulled it off.

With lack of time & motivation, I was surprised I even have an album at all! It was the first release to have the least amount of songs, but it represents the transitions between passions & the necessities to achieve the full substance from life. The optical illusion in the album cover art shows how even being static can still be perceived as motion.

Only one album this year.

I was having too much fun.

From the middle of 2019 until the first few months of 2020, I had navigated myself around the world twice, disconnected from social constructs and at times, even from some parts of reality. I was living in a beautiful magical fantasy, sharing experiences with amazing people and sometimes forgot I even had an interest in making music. The mornings after parties I would wake up to find voice recordings of lyrics & song ideas, the list of them went on&on .

So, when the world went into Lockdown, I spent the downtime making sense off them all and recorded this album.

Thicker than water.

In the thick of the COVID Pandemic, I made these 8 songs for my 8th album.

It was the first time I had ever created an Intro track, and it was initially created by accident while recording friends at underground illegal parties.

The idea of bricks&mortar represents the solid people in my life during this period, as well as the physical walls of our homes which had us trapped inside.

That's right! I am working on two album at the same time. I am hoping to release this before the end of 2022. But again, hopes are high, but they wet - not dry . Let's see how I go. It's all fun and games, which actually is a great name for the album after this , fun&games... yeah I like that.

3 ALBUMS IN 4 MONTHS

left overs

It's no lie these songs are all just the left overs which didn't make the cut from the first two albums.

I was sitting at a train station, a little tipsy, heading home from one of the biggest weekends of my life. I was eating McDonalds, tapping greasy fingers all over my iPhone5, listening to every song which didn't make it into vibe of the first two love&life & back&forth albums... and I realised

"I have an album here"

So I pulled out my laptop, downloaded them from Allihoopa and uploaded them to a new distributor called United Masters that I was trialling out and clicked SUBMIT RELEASE, all before my train arrived.

"please add a cover art for this release"

oh yeah, I forgot about that, my train pulled up and on the way out of Rome I quickly whipped up what you see today in just a few minutes to keep the consistency, and so I could squeeze some sleep in.

You probably don't care, but I chose three shades of red because it is the 3rd album, and I chose red because the first album was black, then the second was blue, so red was obviously next, being a matrix fan and because those two colours are conceptually opposites.

Another album cover created within just a few minutes

I found an image of contrails with a transparent image and I just rearranged them to make them crisscross along the sky to spell my artist name.

I showed to a friend and she didn't get it, so I added the box and she still didn't think it was clear, so I added the translucent font behind and threw the album name on top of it.

These songs were made while I was waiting for my 1st release to be distributed, a I had figured out a song creation method which allowed me to create songs very fast. I would first freestyle on top beats that I was only hearing for the first time, and then when finished, I would listen to them over and over again defining the lyrics on paper and then record them a few days later.

I was not picky with the recording, I wasn't experienced enough to be, so like my first album, you can hear a lot of mistakes and background noises.

Which is all apart of this art I am creating.

RouteNote took so long to distribute, so for this album I used a new one called United Masters.

I set myself a new goal, for my next album, I want to refine my recording skills and produce better music.

But this would not happen. Not for the next one anyways.

If you are scrolling this timeline the right way (from bottom to top),

you should notice it is the same picture of me in 2016 when I said I will release an album.

I first used photoshop to turn the picture into dots and then cropped away half my face for some dramatic effect.

It took me no longer than around 2 minutes to create.

I started researching how to get my music onto streaming platforms and eventually found an option called RouteNote, which distributes for free and only takes a small commission each pay day.

WHAT TO DO NEXT? I NEEDED HELP

I now have over 30 track titles,

some complete - most of them, not so much.

So, I searched for help and joined up to an online song writing community

they were very welcoming and IU started sharing my songs for suggestions and insight.

I was apparently the first hip hop vocalist they ever had in their group, and I shared my tracks for review. They gave great suggestions which fuelled me to refine and finish as many songs as I could.

They encouraged me to join a competition, which I did not win.

Using the free iPhone app "iMovie",

I managed to put some videos together in anticipation of the first album production.

The video above is just lyrics simply scrolling on a black screen.

Whereas the video below is a little more special,

I wrote, recorded & filmed it all on my phone while I was travelling between Australia & Italy

(via some stops in South East Asia & Scandinavia)

<-- That's me in 2016 - Before this photo I had only ever created music spontaneously by freestyling at parties, on stage with friends or busking around Perth Streets. Only on rare occasions I recoded a few things which you can still find at the bottom of my SoundCloud Playground.

I was encouraged by my peers to release music online, so I set out to do it in a way which I did best... on the road & for as cheap as possible.

I found a free music collaboration platform called 'Allihoopa' along with their app 'Take' which allowed me to record wherever I was, whenever I was free and inspired.

SPOILER ALERT: By the time I knew it, I had enough songs to compile albums and found free distributing services who could get my songs on major streaming platforms for a small commission. Perfect. Goal reached ✅
